We have learned of the passing of classmate JoAnn Giofre on December 25th, 2023. JoAnn passed away at the La Bella Nursing Home in Edwardsville. Our sincere sympathy and condolences go out to JoAnn’s sister Donna and all of JoAnn’s family and friends in this time of loss.

Jack Burns


We have learned of the passing of classmate John “Jack” Burns. Jack passed away on Friday, October 6th, 2023. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 10:00 am at Troy Methodist Church, 407 Edwardsville Road in Troy, IL.

Our sincere condolences go out to Jack’s wife Lori, his sons Alex and Paul, and all those who knew and loved him.

Dean Wallen 1938-2017


Dean Wallen, 79, of Belleville, Illinois, born June 2, 1938, in Urbana, IL, died Monday, December 4, 2017 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’ Fallon, Illinois.

Dean was a retired Teacher at Collinsville High School Unit 10. He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church and St. Clair Township Trustee and Clerk for 22 years. Alumni of Lincoln College and received his Bachelor and Masters Degree from The University of Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond G. Wallen and Marian nee, Smith, Wallen.

Surviving are his wife, Juanita, nee Gass, Wallen of Belleville, whom he married June 7, 1968; children, Nicolette (John) McCullough of Belleville, IL, SooJin Wallen and husband Erol Weber of Belleville, IL, and Herschel Wallen of Portland, OR; seven grandchildren, Justin Abegglen, Adam McCullough, Nicholas McCullough, Griffin Wallen, Theodore Wallen, Elena Weber, and Alyssa Weber; sister, Janet Wilson of Gravois Mills, MO; and dear nieces and nephews. Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Illinois and from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 8, 2017 at First United Presbyterian Church, Belleville, IL.

Services: Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., December 8, 2017 at First United Presbyterian Church in the chapel with Pastor Rob Dyer officiating. Interment will follow at Green Mount Protestant Cemetery, Belleville, Illinois.
